China Film Festival 2024
This year’s China Film Festival, themed “Celebrating Five Decades of Friendship with Splendours of Chinese Cinema,” takes the audience on a journey through time, offering a blend of classics and contemporary Chinese films.
In the “Echoes of Time” segment, we have restored the treasures of Chinese cinema history. The 1948 masterpiece “Spring in a Small Town” explores delicate human emotions, while the newly restored “Third Sister Liu”, which captivated Malaysian audiences during the 1960s, brings back cherished memories. Classics films like the emotional “Red Sorghum” and mysterious “Spiders” will also return to the big screen in their restored glory.
In the “Dreamscape of Chinese Animation” segment, childhood memories come to life with “Chang An”. “New Gods: Yang Jian” combines traditional ink painting with a modern mythological aesthetic, creating a visual and imaginative feast.
The “Story Walkway” segment will showcase six diverse films, from the adrenaline-fueled “Pegasus 2” and gripping action of “Never Say Never”, to the soul-searching journeys of “Kong And Jigme” and “Gone with the Boat”. Experience the glory of Chinese table tennis in “Ping Pong: The Triumph”, and a real-life rescue story in “Ordinary Hero”. Each film brings a unique emotional impact and insight into life.
China Film Festival 2024 invites us to immerse ourselves in fifty years of cinematic brilliance, celebrating the profound bond and shared memories between Chinese and Malaysian film cultures.
The Festival will be held from October 14 to 20 at Dadi Cinema, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The ticket is priced at RM10 per movie and the ticketing is opened now at https://www.dadi.my/ or via DADI CINEMA APP. Each movie will only be screened once, don’t miss it.
