Winter Solstice Festival Open Day and International Confucius Culture Exchange Program successfully held! Co-organized by the China Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Network International Culturalink Entities, and the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the event welcomed over 200 participants from diverse ethnic backgrounds, fostering cross-cultural understanding and highlighting the richness of Chinese culture

The event combined the essence of Winter Solstice traditions with Confucian philosophy, offering a variety of engaging activities: “Eternal Confucius” Theme Photo Exhibition, Winter Solstice Festival Cultural Photo Exhibition, hands-on experiences of the Six Arts of Confucius (Rites – Hanfu, Music – Guzheng, Archery – Pitch-pot Game, Charioteering – Ancient Carriage Model, Calligraphy – Round Fan and Calligraphy, Mathematics – Burr Puzzle Challenge), Sharing Session of Confucius Six Arts, Sharing Session of Seasonal Tea Arts, Guzheng performances by students of the China Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur, and a delightful tasting of Glutinous Rice Balls (Tangyuan). These immersive experiences emphasized the deep connections between culture, philosophy, and festive traditions.

The “Six Arts Interactive Experience Zone” showcasing the timeless wisdom and aesthetic elegance of Confucian teachings. Accompanying lectures by Dr. Ching Thing Ho of the University of Malaya and Ms. Wong Sook Yee from Purple Cane Tea Art Centre explored Confucian culture and tea aesthetics, earning widespread praise for their accessible insights.

Enriching the event’s appeal, students from the CCCKL guzheng class performed beautifully, earning heartfelt applause. Attendees also earned festive tangyuan through interactive tasks, symbolizing unity and deepening their appreciation of Winter Solstice customs.

Han Ning, Director of the China Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur, expressed that the event not only deepened participants’ understanding of Confucian values and Winter Solstice traditions but also showcased the warmth and inclusiveness of Chinese culture. The Centre remains committed to hosting more high-quality events promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

This successful event used the Winter Solstice as a cultural bridge and Confucian ideals as a universal thread, vividly demonstrating the modern relevance of traditional culture while adding new vitality to Malaysia-China cultural exchanges.
