For those who have read or watched “The Deer and the Cauldron” are probably familiar with the “Sutra of Forty-two Chapters”. It is being mentioned countlessly throughout the entire novel as an important clue in the storyline. In real life, the “Sutra of Forty-two Chapters” is real. Furthermore it is largely related to the transmission of Buddhism to China.
